Mounts are a very important part of the framing process as they can serve two purposes.

Firstly, a well chosen mount will enhance an item to display it at its best. We offer a wide range of colours in white core, black core, conservation and 4 in museum quality. As each is tried you will see the overall look of the artwork can be changed. Pictures and the framing of them is a very individual and personal choice so there is never only one colour or shade that is correct. We will help you to make an informed choice, but ultimately it is what the customer likes that counts.

The other consideration is the widths of the top, sides and bottom borders or maybe a second colour to create a double mount. All the mounts are custom made so non standard sizes or multi apertures are no problem.
Other items can also be incorporated into your frame such as medals, plaques, coins text box apertures etc.

Secondly a mount will separate the item from the glass which allows air space and prevents the two possibly sticking together which can happen in a moist atmosphere.

When choosing a mount colour it is also worth considering the type of frame you would like as some colours look good with the picture but when you add the frame they don’t complement each other.

A mount slip is another option which can further enhance the appearance of an item. This is a narrow profile made from timber or plastic and then finished in a colour. After the aperture is cut the slip is then mitre cut and added to the aperture edges. We offer slips in gold and silver.
