Bespoke Picture Framing

At Acorn Art we only use the best quality wood for our mouldings, not the cheap alternative. Some of our mouldings have a lovely stained finish, some mouldings have a beautiful Veneered finish. There are hundreds of colours and styles to suit everyone. If we have not got in stock what you are looking for, a sample will be ordered for you to view before making that final decision, no matter how many times this is done. You can only get a Bespoke Picture Frame from a Bespoke Picture Framer!

Alternatively to wood, we also offer a range of Aluminium Bespoke Frames. A range of profiles in various colours ideal for the office environment. Both Aluminium and Bespoke Wood Frames would suit either the Domestic or Commercial market, whether you want a contemporary look or traditional look we can offer everything.

We also have a range of ornate picture frames. These are called Swept Frames. These can be very “Chunky”  adding extravagance to any art work, to the dainty detail for the more quaint of pictures.  Various sizes and colours to suit any picture. Oval framing and round frames also are available. These kind of  Picture Frames often go well with Wedding pictures or Portraits.

Bespoke Box Framing

This is our speciality. We specialise in Bespoke Box Framing. This means we can make practically any item fit into custom made frame. Box frames take the larger, more awkward shaped artefacts, unlike pictures that are flat. Depending on the item depends on the style of Box Frame. From a Wedding dress, Signed Football Shirt, Medals to Records, boxing Gloves and a Golf Ball. We can custom make these to have a mount and an aperture cut for personal text which makes the item more memorable.

Box frames can be very personal, so for such items, a one to one with our Framer will be required. The need to discuss if standard or suede mount interior is required or a stained / painted internal wood. Maybe the item is too heavy for normal wall hanging, therefore, mirror plates or strap hangers may be required. You may have an idea of your own? That is the beauty of Box Framing. almost anything can be framed and we can do it.

Canvas Stretching

Canvas stretching pictures have the unique look without the frame or is a traditional way of presenting an Oil Painting within a frame. The picture or tapestry is then stretched using specialist tools, and are stapled in place to hold the canvas. Any picture can be put onto canvas and stretched. The Stretcher bars are made from a high quality Timber.

Mount Cutting

There can be hundreds of ways to display mounts. There can be standard or multiple cuts on one piece of mount board. An Aperture is a rectangle box cut into a mount card which is used to display text or a picture.  Mount Cutting a shape into mount board can extremely enhance a picture or text. Using different mount boards and applying different techniques and styles can change a visual look on any framed item, such as double mounts and slips.

Glass and Mirror

There are several types of glass which can be used in framing. Depending on where the finished item will be hung and to suit your budget. Standard 2mm Clear Float Glass is great for every day framed items, such as pictures and prints. A Non-Reflective Glass offers less reflection from the glass but is a little more expensive. We also have Conservation Glass, Museum Glass and Acrylic.

Mirrors are available in a standard 3mm / 4mm plain or 4mm with a bevelled edge of 25mm. We can order special sizes to suit your needs. They can be framed using any frame of your choice. Alternatively, you can bring your own Mirror and choose a frame to enhance the colour scheme within your home.
